About cato8

Most organisations now run on intelligence they do not own. Their questions, documents and decisions travel to someone else’s servers, priced by the token, under terms that can change without asking.
We think the next computer in every office understands what it holds. And we think it should belong to the people whose work it holds, not to the company that trained the model.
cato8 builds those computers. The models are already inside. A switch on the back cuts them off from the world. Nothing phones home, and nothing needs to.
Intelligence this close to your work should not be rented back to you.
Where we come from
We have been doing this the hard way.
Through SetupMyAI, our team has been helping businesses and institutions bring AI into their work: choosing the models, installing them, connecting them to the systems people actually run, and training the people who use them, on-site across the UK and UAE.
The organisations with the most to lose, in law, healthcare and finance, kept asking us the same question. Can we have this without sending our material to someone else? The honest answer used to be a weekend of drivers and inference servers on whatever hardware they had.
cato8 is the better answer: the machine, the operating system and the models, designed together, and installed by the same people who have been doing it by hand.
What we hold to
Six things we will not trade away.
No cloud. Not even sometimes.
There is no cloud fallback for big models, because there is no cloud to fall back to. The NET switch proves it.
Yours outright
No subscription and no licence check. If we disappeared tomorrow, your machine would keep working.
Installed by a person
A SetupMyAI engineer sets it up, connects it to your systems and trains your team. It is in the price.
Any silicon
AMD as standard, NVIDIA to order. We build on whatever suits the work, then put the same machine on top.
Honest about limits
We publish the rows we lose and say plainly that stacking adds memory, not speed. You will find out anyway.
Built to last
Open model weights, expandable storage, standard power. A machine that is still useful in its fourth year.
The name
Shrewd, and not for sale.
From the Latin catus: shrewd, sharp, wise. And the name carried by Cato the Younger, remembered for refusing to be bought at any price. That is the product's whole argument: a machine that cannot be talked into sending your work somewhere else.
Turn the 8 on its side and it is infinity, for intelligence that does not run out or run up a bill. The name is always written in lowercase, with the 8.
